My Sunday Mornings

This is my regular Sunday morning view at Apostles. My primary responsibilities on Sundays are making sure that our internet broadcast goes smoothly and to make sure that my boss has everything that he needs. I usually sit in on our 9:00 service and run the screens and for the sermon.

During the main service at 10:30 I monitor the internet traffic and respond via email (and sometimes phone calls) to viewer comments. I'm also responsible for all tape recording and playback.

New Apostles Live Page

This week we'll be launching a new viewer page for our live services at Church of the Apostles. Its not visible yet, but I wanted to share a very quick video of part of the creation of the page. Get ready for three hours of web design in 30 seconds...

Mike Huckabee at Apostles

I was really excited today to hear that next Sunday former Governor and Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will be speaking at Apostles.

Huckabee was really the only candidate in the 2008 primaries that gave me any reason for excitement -- can you say Fair Tax? He was also, by far, the most eloquent speaker of the group.

It should be an exciting day to hear a message from the man that could be the future of the Republican party!

Thanksgiving Video Production

I'm really excited about the story that we are working on for our thanksgiving service at apostles. I can't say too much about it right now, but here's one production picture from a shoot we did this past week in north Georgia.

Michael Youssef Biographical Video

This is a video that was produced by Michael Lines for Leading the Way which broadcasts Dr. Michael Youssef all over the world. I had a very small part in its production -- I recreated the stamp that was used on the exit papers from Egypt in the video.

Much of this story was unknown to me before I saw this video. The story of Dr. Youssef's birth and exit from Egypt provides a dramatic backdrop for a man that now has the opportunity to share the message of Jesus throught the world. God has raised up Michael Youssef in a unique position and I am thankful for his obediance to that calling and for his passion for the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Control Room Renovation - Part 1

This photo from this past Sunday is from the last service that we'll ever run with the Apostles control room in this configuration. This week Kevin began the process of removing the control surfaces and monitors that you see here to make way for a completely revamped display system.

Over the next couple of weeks he'll be building a new wall where the old racks were and installing a multi-display wall on a 65" plasma monitor. What used to take thirteen individual displays will now take one. A system that used to require large bundles of wire will take a single DVI cable.

I'll try to post more pictures as the constuction progresses, but for now enjoy a few that illustrate the dismantling process.

Apostles VBS 2008

I'm excited this morning that VBS at Church of the Apostles is finally over for 2008. One of the things that we do every year is make a quick music video that shows the whole week of VBS. Today I want to share that video here...

Kevin, Jonathan and I all worked on the shooting of this video. Jonathan worked on the initial layout of many of the clips here and then I came in to tighten and fill in the gaps. The challenge with a piece like this one is having a very short shooting and editing time, plus we still have all the needs for this Sunday. At the same time we were dealing with a couple of main locations that were very dark and were basically beyond being helped with color correction.

Shootin' HD

Tonight I thought that I would share just one photo from a video shoot that we did yesterday. What makes this video exciting for me is that its the first one that we have shot completely in 1080i (HD). I'll be putting this video together just after the first of the year to promote a new outreach emphasis at Church of the Apostles. I should be able to post the completed piece here by mid January!
